Fixed a pretty hilarious bug that showed the users name as the author of all comments. This resulted from Twitter changing the way they do some things. You can see the bug in action here: http://www.marcnext.com/2008/10/15/toeval-bestaat-niet/
Have fun!

Just release Toro 0.4.2. All it is a bug fix for the public timeline. What was happening was sometimes, if the public timeline request hit Twitter before the user timeline request, all of the user’s names would display as your username.
Also, Toro got its first review! http://refreshingapps.com/showcase/app/toro_twitter_air_client

Just wanted to let everyone know that I bought a book on Cocoa development and an iPhone. I’m starting to write a version of Toro for the iPhone. I applied for the Apple developer program tonight and hopefully they’ll get back to me tomorrow.
Here’s the first shot of my progress!

On this release I added a feature that I’m really excited about. For now on, in the feedback section, users are able to submit and vote on feature requests.
Here’s a shot that pretty much explains it all

Have fun voting and remember to submit a feature request if you want something.

Ok this time I really fixed the memory leak. On top of that, I also made some improvements to lower memory usage in general, and I fixed a few bugs. More details in the release notes. Get it now!

Fixed the memory leak and added http://srnk.net/ to the list of URL shrinking sites. Note to everyone who has strange memory leaks in Adobe Flex … USE WEAK REFERENCES WHEN ADDING EVENT LISTENERS (most of the time) !
If you’re using a framework like PureMVC and you have a proxy class that listens for events from a utility class, use weak references!
Use the profiler that comes with Flex Builder 3( the live object count and the garbage collection button are extremely useful )

So Toro has been out in beta for a couple of days now and I’m having a lot of fun talking to the people who are using it. So far I’ve had plenty of feature requests, a couple of bug reports, and just a ton of general feedback. So far everyone who’s played with it and has gotten back to me seem to like it. Karen from http://www.karenschronicles.com even said she’s going to recommend it to her readers.
In the past week I’ve added System Tray / Dock support, URL shortening, and I’ve implemented my experimental Twitter library and doesn’t depend on the API. I’m really excited about the Twitter library. I can update the client as much as I want without caching or limits.
The only headache I’m having so far is a bitch of a memory leak. I was blaming SuperImage because it was #1 in memory usage, but it seems it might be my itemRenderer(which was my big headache last week).
Thanks to everyone who’s given me feedback and taken the time to download and try Toro.
Oh and p.s. I’m starting to wonder if it makes sense for 20 different people to be writing 20 different Twitter clients, or if we should all be working on the same one.
Chris
